I expected them to be spherical and they're not. For my purpose, it didn't matter. I stuffed them in cheesecloth tea bags and used them to help keep fermenting kimchi below the liquid surface. If you want them for your fish tank, they should be fine. If your kid wants to play marbles with them, he's out of luck. The shape is sort of like a sphere that melted. I suppose there's a name for the shape, but I don't know what it is. They are rounded with no sharp edges, but not spherical.
